La Magdelaine Blanc 2001

Appellation : Vin de Pays d'Oc.

Grape Varieties : Viognier 28 %, Grenache blanc 24 %, Terret 19 %, Sauvignon 19 %, Chardonnay 10 %.

" La Magdelaine " is the name of an area containing several plots of land.

Vinification : Pellicular Maceration for approximately 10 hours for Sauvignon and Viognier. The grape varieties were vinified and left to mature separately in oak barrels for 12 months on their lees. They were blended into the final product right before being bottled. The wine was stirred regularly throughout the maturation process.

Bottled on 17 March 2003. This is a non-clarified wine that has only been filtered once.

Presentation : 0.75 l Bordeaux seduction -type bottle with an antique tint.

Packaging : Boxes of 6 bottles lying on their sides.

Tasting : Bright lemon yellow color. The nose is dominated at first by the Viognier with its hints of dried fruit (apricots), then after swirling we discovered scents of vanilla and butter obtained by maturation in the barrel. The attack is very lively in the mouth (Terret, Sauvignon) giving the wine a certain freshness. In the middle of the palate the Grenache blanc and Chardonnay give it a structure that once again brings out these tertiary flavors. The finish is acidic and slightly lemony.

Prizes, publication : Bronze medal at the Grands Vins du Languedoc Roussillon competition.
